Now You're Gone

No no no… not forever.
Not forever in the flesh,
But forever as a wish.
Soul to soul was the bargain,
A promise that I made to you.
We would try to tell the truth,
And be true to our dreams,
Through our lives, through the heartaches,
Through the good times and the bad,
Through the happy and the sad times.
We were here for each other.
We were friends, sister, brother.
You were good to me.
We were meant to be.
Now you're gone.

Now your heart was an ocean.
Full of fire a rolling wheel,
All desire so much will.
Being turned in a motion
Like planets 'round the sun.
Every moment was the one,
Most alive most electric,
When we'd talk all through the night,
Watch the campfire turn to coals,
And the darkness turn to dawn,
And the vows we made together,
Let our love go on and on,
You were meant for me.
We were meant to be.
Now you're gone.

How it is is not an answer.
How it is and what went wrong.
Was it something that we'd done?
Living life, taking chances.
All the risk you gotta take,
Call it luck or call it fate,
How could change come so fast
To what we thought would be lasting,
When I'd hold you in the night,
And I'd promise you again
That our love was forever,
Blink my eyes, it's just a song.
What was meant to be,
Now a memory.
Now you're gone.
