Moon Rocket Blues

Once I built a big ol' rocket

took a trip up to the moon.

I went up up up in a spaceship,

put my feet down on the moon.

I looked out at the earth,

it was round and color blue.

I looked up into the earthscape,

it was more than I could see.

I beheld this big blue planet.

It was beautiful to me. 

I thought about the sadness,

confusion, misery.

I thought about the madness

that was claiming victory.

There were cities all in flames

the war went on and on

Desperation and injustice

the war went on and on.

Assassination and destruction,

Lord there's something mighty wrong

break

Hey everybody on the earth 

look up here at me!

There's a giant leap a coming.

From the moon a soul can see,

there's room enough for everybody 

even if we disagree.
