It's Over
"It's Over" is a song the absolute finality of which is the diametric opposite of the universal expansiveness of "Here There and Everywhere." Instead of attempting to compete with McCartney's tune, I went for a sound which was characteristic of the San Francisco sound, circa 1966.
It’s Over
Drivin’ up from Half Moon Bay.
Trying to get lost. Lookin’at the ocean.
Heading for the Golden Gate.
It’s one last time, try to get back the feeling.
Why don’t you tell me the truth anymore?
We both know it’s dying. It’s like blood on the door.
I could live my life without you, and even feel good about you.
It’s time to give up, wake up, admit that it’s over.
It’s over.
It’s over.
Through the San Francisco hills
you keep changing your mind. We’re off to Saucilito.
We end up in the park again,
drivin’ in circles, headed out to Cole street.
I held my tongue, kept my eyes straight ahead.
You were lookin’ out the window. You had nothing to say.
I can go on without you. You’ll go on without me.
It’s time to wake up, break up,
admit that it’s over.
It’s over.
It’s over.
