Headless Corpse
Headless Corpse
I was in the dark,
searching the light,
through rubble for gold.
An image in my mind,
invaded the breath of my soul;
a headless dust covered body
lying in a cave,
guarding the looted caskets
and desecrated graves.
Kill all the leaders,
the guillotine snaps and it's off with their heads.
Use poison and bombs
on the others till they wish they were dead.
The terror rips apart
the purpose of your mission.
You just wanna go home.
Be careful where you go fishing.
A headless corpse
floating in the Mekong river in 'nam.
The stripped body of the headless Saul
on the wall of Beth Shan.
And all I wanted to do
was let you know you were blameless,
but I had to get out of town
before I got too shameless.
We rise while others fall.
We will soon put an end to this,
and no one will ever know
who signed the papers.
Never think I had a choice.
Murder wasn't my only vice,
but I had to do what I did,
We were told that what we did
would make us all safer.
I had to do you in
to make us safer.
