Circle 9 Blues

Finally, we enter the 9th circle of Dante's Hell.  The corollary to this in the Harry Smith series is the song "Down on Penny's Farm."  Penny's Farm was the model used for Dylan's 1965 song "Maggie's Farm."

Old Nick's behind the bar, he lets you know

Then he likes to ask you about yourself.

Then he'll turn the tables on you
'Til you're just another story he can sell.
