Broken

Yesterday I was so lonely.
Yesterday I was afraid.
Trembling heart,
Cold as a stone,
Could I love you again?

You'd opened me up
To my heartache.
You'd opened my eyes to my shame.
You made me see
What true love could be,
'Til my tears fell like rain.

We were mad when our love was on fire.
When it burned through the heartbreak and lies,
And to me you were devil and angel,
And to you I was blind.

I was mad when you told me it's over.
I was angry I hadn't quit you.
But the lie we were living,
Where our pride kept us from giving,
Where the dream we shared
Deceived us into thinking  
Everything would be alright,
Even though something was broken.
And something is broken.
