All About the Money
All About the Money
When it's all about the money,
When it's all about the money,
If it's all about the money,
It ain't no American Dream.
American dream,
Built to last,
Until Wall Street hijacked the government
And I lost everything I had.
I worked my whole life.
I thought I knew the game.
Wasn't asking a lot,
just a roof for my family,
A dry place to lay my head.
Can't pay down the loans,
impossible to save.
I'm working hard when I can,
Hardly making ends meet,
Thinking 'bout the bills I can't pay.
Some friends are losing their jobs.
Some folks are raking it in.
When it's all about the money
There ain't nothing funny 'bout
The position you're in.
Now my American dream
Is it about to die?
Is my American dream
Turning into a crime scene
Looking for an alibi?
When it's all about the money,
When it's all about the money,
If it's all about the money,
It ain't no American Dream.
It's just sell sell sell…
And it's buy buy buy…
And when you ain't got enough it
All starts to smell like a Wall Street lie.
I don't wanna be rich,
And I don't like being poor.
Is there a place in the middle
I can live my life without
always stressing more and more
When it's all about the money
When it's all about the money
If it's all about the money
It ain't no American Dream.
It's just sell sell sell
And it's buy buy buy
And when you ain't got enough it
All starts to smell like a Wall Street lie.
Our American dream
Is it beginning to fold?
Is this American dream
just a rainbow looking for a pot of gold?
When it's all about the money
When it's all about the money
If it's all about the money
It ain't the American Dream.
