American Demos Vol. III, The Other

This is an album of  mostly instrumental pieces, best heard on headphones.  It is an homage to the Anthology of American Folk Music, v.III.  

Insofar as Harry Smith turned the back country of Appalachia and Louisana into a strange alternate universe of arcane social culture, so this homage to the period where the avant-garde mingled with jazz and folk musicians, and the experimental was blended with the archaic traditional.  The Beat era of the mid to late 1950s in San Francisco, Los Angeles, New Orleans, and New York was a time of eclectic blending of philosophies and musical styles, through the media of lp records, radio, and books.
